Florey appointed Executive Director

Edgeworth Garden Club

The visual and written history of the Edgeworth Garden Club is on display at Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St.

Road works

The closure of part of Hitzel Hill Road (Highway 4045) in Bell Acres began on August 23.

The shoulder reconstruction work requires the complete closure of part of Hitzel Hill Road on an ongoing basis until September 3. Traffic will be diverted via Big Sewickley Creek Road and the Camp Meeting Road extension.

Divine Redeemer Club 55 Plus

The 55 Plus Club is for those who want to meet new people over the age of 55 while having lunch and fun once a month from September 2021 to May 2022.

Membership fees are $ 14 per year. Lunches take place on the third Thursday of each month and begin with the rosary in the church at 11:30 am, lunch and entertainment at noon in the gathering space. Lunches cost $ 15 for members and $ 16 for guests. The price for the December Christmas party will be determined at a later date.

Tuskegee Airmen Movie

Allegheny Commandery No.35 will host a film screening and ceremony honoring the Tuskegee Airmen on September 5. The festivities begin at noon at the Tull Family Theater, 418 Walnut St.

WQED’s “Flyboys: Tuskegee Airmen of Western Pennsylvania” will be broadcast. The event continues with a ceremony at the Tuskegee Airman Memorial inside Sewickley Cemetery off Hopkins Street. Special guests include Sheba Holy Royal Arch Chapter # 13 and American Legion Division Officers.
