Baseball Adds Coppola and Pinkney to Scouting Class

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers baseball and head coach Steve owens added to promotion 2022 with RHP signatures Christian coppola and INF Isaiah Pinkney. The Scarlet Knights previously inked nine student-athletes in November.

Remarks: Ready for fourth year at Cedar Creek… won Second all-star in Group II after working at a 2.82 ERA in 28.2 innings with 38 strikeouts in 2021… allowed just 15 hits… won the pitcher of the year title from Cedar Creek… ranked 19the– New Jersey’s best right-handed pitcher by Perfect game … Played travel baseball for the South Jersey Sand Sharks… won all round honors at the 2018 WWBA Freshman World Championship… one varsity fellow in each of the first three years of high school.

Staff: Son of Deanna and Tony Coppola… has an older brother Nick, who is on the St. Joseph rowing team… intends to major in business management.

Owens quote: Isaiah appeared on our staff’s radar after excelling in several tournaments that we watched virtually during the initial COVID shutdown. He showed an advanced skill set in showcase settings and also performed very well in the games. Isaiah has a polished swing and shots for mid and power. Defensively he plays well at first and third and gives us the flexibility to play one or both in the future. He will be a perfect fit. to our school and our program.

Remarks: Ready for second season at Audubon after playing St. Joseph (Hamm.) The first two years… rose to 20 for 63 (0.317) as a junior in 2021… exploded four home runs with 18 RBIs and got 10 walks… ranked sixth best third baseman in New Jersey by Perfect game … Played travel baseball for Baseball Performance Center, Mid-Atlantic Baseball and All Out Baseball… named on over 20 teams in all tournaments.

Staff: Son of Jacqueline and Terron Pinkney… has a younger sister, Mya.
