BERGEN COUNTY HISTORICAL PRESERVATION AWARDS 2022 NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS

The Cultural and Historical Affairs Division announces

Online applications for the 2022 Historic Preservation Awards

(HACKENSACK, NJ) – The Bergen County Parks Department, Cultural and Historical Affairs Division is now accepting nominations for the 2022 Bergen County Historical Preservation Awards. Each May, in honor of National Historic Preservation Month, the Historic Preservation Awards are presented to properties, individuals and organizations that have made a difference in preserving Bergen County’s long history. The Division of Cultural and Historical Affairs (DCHA) and the Bergen County Historical Preservation Advisory Board coordinate the selection effort.

Since 1980, nearly 300 Preservation Prizes have been awarded. The Bergen County Historic Preservation Awards have seven categories available:

Historical preservation

Projects:

For the preservation, restoration or exceptional rehabilitation of a structure, object, landscape or historic historic site.

Education:

For educational programs, publications, media projects, walking tours or other efforts that help increase public awareness and knowledge about historic preservation in Bergen County.

Direction:

For individuals, groups or agencies who have demonstrated an ongoing contribution to the preservation of historic resources or the advancement of historic preservation in Bergen County.

Story

Publication:

For publications including books, journals, articles, brochures, websites and brochures that increase public awareness and knowledge of the history of Bergen County.

Direction:

For individuals, groups or agencies who have demonstrated exceptional leadership or have demonstrated an exceptional continuing contribution to the advancement of history in Bergen County.

Education:

For a specific program, exhibition, educational institution, group or individual demonstrating excellence in public awareness and knowledge of the history of Bergen County.

Young historian award

For individual or group projects that contribute to local historic preservation, or to promote and educate the public about the history of the county or the historic built environment. Applicants must be of school age or under.

Applications will be accepted until Friday March 18, 2022.

The prizes will be awarded on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
