Georgian institutions rank among the best in the country

September 25 – ATLANTA – Georgia remains one of three states with at least two of the top 16 public institutions in the country, with a number of institutions in Georgia’s university system appearing in important categories for the latest US rankings News and World Report.

The Georgia Institute of Technology ranked 10th in the country and the University of Georgia 16th in the category of best public universities, while Georgia State University ranked second among the most innovative universities in the country. country and ranked second for best undergraduate education.

Several USG institutions also ranked among the best in the South, and overall USG institutions performed well in regional rankings.

Among the achievements selected by USG institutions in alphabetical order in this year’s US News ranking:

—Dalton State College, Georgia’s first and only Hispanic institution designated by the federal government, ranked No. 21 in Social Mobility and was on the list of the best regional colleges in the South.

—Fort Valley State University is Georgia’s # 1 ranked HBCU for the fourth consecutive year. It is ranked # 38 among the country’s HBCUs and in the top 10 for social mobility.

– Middle Georgia State University was ranked 10th for Best Southern Regional Public Institutions and 8th for Veterans.

—Georgia College and State University were ranked 9th among the best regional public universities in the South and 21st overall, including private colleges.

—Georgia Gwinnett College has been ranked as the most ethnically diverse regional college in the South and # 3 among the South’s regional colleges for innovation.

—The Georgia Institute of Technology ranked # 10 among best public universities and # 38 overall, including private institutions.
