These more devious members of Ravenclaw possess a meaner streak, as they engage in particularly sleazy behavior. The generally good-natured Hogwarts house has featured some particularly wicked witches and wizards in its ranks, who are prime examples of Ravenclaw’s darker potential.

Marietta Edgecombe

As the best friend of Harry’s first love, Cho Chang, Marietta Edgecombe is a pivotal character in the Harry Potter books. However, Cho’s seemingly friendly and supportive sidekick harbors a more deceptive side to her personality, as she helps the despicable Professor Umbridge bring down Dumbledore’s army (despite Cho being a passionate member of the secret school organization).

Marietta betrays her friend’s trust, as she provides Umbridge with valuable information regarding the base of operations for Dumbledore’s army. His devious and manipulative move follows his decision to spend six months as a member of Harry’s secret club and nearly results in Cho’s expulsion. Additionally, Marietta displays a hateful disdain towards The Boy Who Lived, choosing not only to laugh cruelly at the poor teenager’s nervous attempts to ask Cho to go to the Yule Ball, but also refusing to believe his truthful claims that the Lord of Darkness is back.

Sybil Trelawney

Acting as a divination teacher at Hogwarts, Sybil Trelawney is a wonderfully eccentric figure within the school of wizards. With her ability to see into the future, the aloof Ravenclaw made several predictions that came to fruition, including Harry’s eventual fate. However, Trelawney’s teaching methods are somewhat questionable as they reveal a darker side of the Hogwarts professor.

Among Sybil’s many controversial procedures are her cold and calculating manipulation of the school’s students to achieve her own ends, and taking advantage of their greatest fears for her catastrophic predictions. Her most insensitive behavior, however, sees Trelawney prophesying the deaths of several of her students and gloating over the reactions.

Eddie Carmichael

Eddie Carmichael stares ahead, next to Baruffio's Braij Elixir, as seen in the Wizards Unite mobile game.

With nine “outstanding” OWL ratings under his belt, Eddie Carmichael is one of Ravenclaw’s brightest students. The fiercely intelligent student is also one of the most conniving individuals at Hogwarts, with Eddie attempting to scam young students at the educational establishment into buying a potion which he claims helped him to to succeed.

Eddie deliberately tricks these innocent students into believing that Baruffio’s brain elixir has boosted his brain power despite knowing that the potion actually carries a serious health risk to those who consume its contents. Eddie’s villainous act sees him deliberately putting the lives of the students in danger, portraying the heartless young teenager as one of Ravenclaw’s most malevolent members.

Helen Ravenclaw

The Ghost of Ravenclaw Tower at Hogwarts Helena

As the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw, Helena is a particularly important person within the Harry Potter series. The knowledgeable young woman continues to be a major presence at Hogwarts beyond her death, as she haunts the school grounds. However, it’s her actions before her unfortunate demise that make Helena one of the meanest people in Ravenclaw.

Rowena’s daughter demonstrates a selfish attitude towards her mother, as her jealousy over Rowena’s immense popularity sees her stealing her iconic tiara in a move many Harry Potter fans consider it a particularly dumb moment. Helena’s most reprehensible decision comes as her mother falls seriously ill, however, the self-obsessed Ravenclaw refusing to visit Rowena on her deathbed. Helena ruthlessly ignores her dying mother’s wish to see her daughter one last time, reflecting a crueler side to the usually warm and welcoming Hogwarts house.

Bezoar boy

Bezoar Boy stares straight ahead in the Philosopher's Stone video game, and Professor Quirrell looks nervous against a black background.

Appearing within the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone video game, Bezoar Boy is a particularly quirky presence within the gaming business, with the young boy said to keep a Bezoar Stone in his pocket. The Ravenclaw student also displays a meaner side to his character, as he hurls several nasty insults at various wizards and witches featured in the game.

This student’s many nasty remarks include his crude description of Snape as a man who “always seems to smell something bad” and his sardonic mockery of Professor Quirrell’s fear of light. However, perhaps his most excruciating comments are his cruel jokes regarding Hermione’s terrifying encounter with the troll in the girl’s bathroom, which could have potentially led to the Muggle-born wizard’s unfortunate demise.

Gilderoy Lockhart

With countless books under his name, Gilderoy Lockhart is one of the most prolific Ravenclaws in the wizarding world. Lockhart’s published works are, however, a front for a more deceptive figure, the seemingly experienced explorer having unabashedly taken credit for the courageous actions of others he encountered on his globetrotting adventures.

Among the wizard’s most outrageous lies are his claims that he banished a banshee and single-handedly defeated the werewolf Wagga Wagga, though these remarkable feats were in fact performed by other talented wizards and wizards. Lockhart’s outrageous behavior sees the slimy individual wipe the minds of true heroes to fuel his deception, confirming him as Hogwarts’ worst professor.

Laverne de Montmorency

Laverne De Montmorency smiles in her portrait, as Hermione and Ginny check the love potions in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

Born in the 19th century, Laverne De Montmorency is one of the most accomplished potions masters in the wizarding community. Ravenclaw’s supremely intelligent potions expert knowledge sees her crafting one of the most morally dubious concoctions in the franchise, as she invents the world’s first love potions (which coerce the user into falling in love with the potion brewer).

Laverne’s deeply questionable designs prove to be very dangerous tonics throughout the series, as their powerful nature forces Ron to become infatuated with Romilda Vane against his free will. Additionally, Laverne uses her love potions to win Tom Riddle Snr’s affection, leading to the couple conceiving a child while Tom is under a potion spell, in a particularly problematic move by the potion brewer ripped apart. by love.

Professor Quirell

Acting as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher during Harry’s first year, Professor Quirrell is a particularly gifted member of the wizarding world. While this Ravenclaw may seem like a shy and nervous individual on the surface, beneath that more shy exterior lies a more sinister edge for the Hogwarts professor.

Professor Quirrell hides a deep, dark secret beneath his signature turban, as he shelters Voldemort’s face on the back of his head. The seemingly quiet and unassuming Ravenclaw plays a key role in Voldemort’s eventual return to power, with Quirrell agreeing to carry the Dark Lord’s soul within his body. During his time as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, he commits several heinous acts, including jinxing Harry’s broomstick and allowing the troll into the girl’s toilet, causing many fans to believe that the professor is the worst professor at Hogwarts.

Brennan Doyle

Brennan Doyle gives an expression of disgust in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Appearing in mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Brennan Doyle proves to be a particularly gifted Quidditch player, filling the role of “Guardian” within the Ravenclaw team. His strong enthusiasm for the popular sports game also reveals a decidedly mean side of the Hogwarts student, as he attacks his replacement Keeper, Andre Egwu, following his demotion to replace Keeper.

Brennan’s violent outburst provides one of Ravenclaw’s most shocking moments, with the bitter young boy hitting his replacement with the curse of conjunctivitis. His unforgivable actions cause Andre to temporarily lose his vision, causing Quidditch’s new keeper to fall off his broom (marking this as one of Ravenclaw’s meanest acts).

lovegood xenophile

Xenophilius Lovegood and the Deathly Hallows in cinema

As Luna Lovegood’s father, Xenophilious is one of the most eccentric individuals in the wizarding world. His eccentric tabloid newspaper “The Quibbler” offers a less conventional view of the magical community, representing his unusual family’s strong passion for conspiracies. Outside of his odd behavior, Xenophilious also holds a darker streak, as Ravenclaw’s oddball proves a valuable ally for Death Eaters.

Harry and his friends arrive in good faith at Xenophilious’ house during the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, as Luna’s father agrees to offer them information about the Deathly Hallows. This is later revealed to be a trap, however, as Xenophilious betrays the noble trio to the Death Eaters, in exchange for his daughter’s safe return from Azkaban. Xenophilious’ treacherous behavior nearly results in The Boy Who Lived and his trusted companions being captured by Voldemort’s most devoted followers, making the actions of the Quibbler editor one of Ravenclaw’s most despicable acts.
