HIDDENITE – The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center invites the community to join in a celebration of Scottish heritage in the region with the Centre’s annual Robert Burns Night Celebration.
The festivities will take place at the Centre’s educational complex at 70 Hiddenite Church Road in Hiddenite at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 27.
Tickets cost $ 18 each, which includes a Scottish meal and musical entertainment by Studio 3.
Ticket reservations are required and can be made by calling Lucas Mansion from the Center at 828-632-6966. Tickets can be picked up before the event at Lucas Mansion (316 Hiddenite Church Road) or kept at Will Call. Lucas Mansion’s hours of operation for ticket collection are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Born in January 1759, Robert Burns was one of the most famous poets of all time. Poet and lyricist, Burns is widely regarded as Scotland’s national poet and was a pioneer of the Romantic movement. Many of his poems and songs, like the classic “Auld Lang Syne”, are still performed today.
Guests at the January 27 event are encouraged to wear their tartans and plaids.
After a Scottish welcome, guests will feast on a traditional Scottish meal, which includes haggis, beef, shredded cabbage, haggerty pan, bread and butter and a drunken laird for dessert.
