Hoff-Barthelson School of Music Hosts Virtual Open Day for Youth Orchestras

Join Music Directors Jun Nakabayashi (Festival Orchestra), Robert Schwartz (Youth Symphonette, Chamber Orchestra), Joseph Piscitelli (Wind Ensemble) and Hoff-Barthelson School of Music Executive Director Ken Cole on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. on Zoom for a lively online introduction to the four-tier youth orchestra programs of school. The discussion will include information on repertoire, educational objectives, performance times, how to prepare for auditions (only the Festival Orchestra requires auditions), and more!

Hoff-Barthelson is Westchester’s only community music school with a four-tier youth orchestra pyramid, culminating in a full symphony orchestra for secondary school students at the highest level of technical ability and musical artistry. Students hone their technical skills and musical sensitivities in the Youth Symphonette, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble with a view to becoming a member of the Festival Orchestra, reserved for auditions.

HBMS orchestras are open to all students, whether studying privately at HBMS or elsewhere.

Auditions for the Festival Orchestra will take place at the School on Tuesday, May 10 from 7 to 10 p.m.; Wednesday May 18, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Friday, May 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. To visit www.hbms.org for more information on auditions.
