Petal School District raises funds for St. Charles Parish Schools

PETAL Miss. (WDAM) – In Petal, the school district is helping Louisiana students and teachers.

The district is running a “Coins Count” fundraising campaign to support schools in St. Charles Parish that were badly affected by Hurricane Ida.

Superintendent Dr. Matt Dillon says it’s a small way to involve students and families in the care of our neighbors. The money will be used to give schools gift cards for supplies and repairs.

“Our mission is to teach children about studies, but it goes beyond that and it is so important that we teach our children the lessons of life and the things they can learn. And this is an opportunity for us to do that with coin counting, ”says Dillon. “We have friends, no, not too far from us in Saint-Charles parish, with whom we have a relationship. “

“I know the Superintendent Dr Ken Oertling pretty well and they have such a great team and such great students there and this is an opportunity for us to give back.”

Coins Count donation boxes are located at the counters of every school in the district.

If community members want to participate, anyone can donate to the school district office. The trip lasts until Friday, September 17.
