Rose Koretski Obituary (2021) – Pawcatuck, Connecticut

Rose A. (Brown) Koretski, 93, of Pawcatuck, passed away at her home on Friday August 27, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Philip Koretski.
Born in Babylon, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Brown.
Rose was a longtime devout Catholic and Communioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Pawcatuck, CT. She had a strong devotion to Saint Teresa and often placed a rose at the feet of her statue for special prayers and intentions. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, traveling there several times. She was a Quilter Master who traveled the country teaching the art of quilting. Rose was a member of the Ninigret Quilters Guild as well as the Narragansett Bay Quilters. She was a long-time volunteer at St. Michael’s School and a volunteer for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Christ Church in Westerly. In her youth, she worked at Macy’s in New York and participated in the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She was extremely proud to have traveled to fire stations in New York City after the 9/11 attacks to deliver a quilt to their firefighters. She was also a staunch supporter of the Pawcatuck Fire Department, the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and many local community organizations, donating her time, talent and treasure.
She is survived by her children; Liz (Michael) Laudone of Bradford, RI, Philip (Jodie) Koretski of Westerly, RI, and Edward Koretski (Margaret Satryano) of Pawcatuck, CT, and his brother; Michael C. Brown from Boynton Beach, Florida. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Brian (Sarah) Laudone, Jillian Laudone, Christopher Koretski, Katherine Koretski, Micaela Kluver, Jade (Sergiu) Costea, Savanna Kluver and Tessa Kluver. She was also Nadia Costea’s great-grandmother. Rose was predeceased by her dear cousin Barbara Rudolf. She is also survived by many friends and travel companions, especially Barbara Barber with whom she has spent many trips and laughs at the setting of the quilt. Additionally, they co-chaired the biannual Ninigret Quilt Show at the Westerly Armory – something she was planning for next October where she will showcase her work as a tribute.
Visiting hours are omitted. Parents and friends are invited to attend a funeral liturgy at St. Michael’s Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, CT, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint-Michel cemetery.
