Agartala, 29th August 2022: Probably for the first time in Tripura, Agartala Public School, a private educational institution, has undertaken a noble initiative by introducing “Bagless Saturday” on the fourth Saturday of every month in from August 27.
The school principal, Suparna Saha, said northeast today that the authorities of the Agartala Public School, English language, have taken the noble decision to support the overall development of the students and make them more enthusiastic about learning.
“The school goes bagless for students on the last Saturday of each month. This special arrangement has been made on the last Saturday of each month for students from Class III to Class VIII. In other words, on the last Saturday of the month, students no longer have to come to school with bags, books and notebooks,” she added.
Saha also said, “In an effort to make the school attractive to students and make them more interested in reading and writing, extracurricular activities as well as various decisions were made by school authorities on the last Saturday of each month. These include recitations, storytelling, quizzes, impromptu lectures, yoga exercises, literature sessions, sports, student songs and finally musical performances by guest artists.
A senior official from the school education department told this correspondent that the government has never initiated such a decision for the overall development of the state. “This is indeed a great initiative launched by Agartala Public School on the fourth Saturday of every month. The School Education Department will take this initiative together with senior officials and the concerned Minister, which will elicit a huge response added the official.
Sources from the office of Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said the minister applauded the decision of this private school recognized by the state government located in the outskirts of Agartala city.
It is worth mentioning here that Agartala Public School started its journey in April 2011 with seven kindergarten students, two teachers and a mother from the school. At present, the strength of students stands at over 200. Every year, the school organizes study tours to Tripura State Museum, Governor House, Airport, Heritage Parks, JICA Project office, Oxygen Park, etc
