In addition to the overall ranking, UNK is one of only 39 schools to make U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Online Masters in Education Programs for Veterans” list. Tied for 11th place with the University of Kansas, UNK is the only school in Nebraska to receive this recognition.

To be eligible for the veteran-focused list, schools must rank in the top half of the “Best Online Masters in Education” rankings, be certified for the GI Bill, and have at least 10 students with a background. soldiers enrolled in these programs. They must also participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program or be a public institution that charges in-state tuition, which may be fully covered by the GI Bill, for all veterans applying from out of state.

“Veterans and active-duty military members get the most out of affordable, accessible, and reputable distance education,” notes Eric Brooks, senior data analyst for US News & World Report. “The 2022 ranking of the best online programs for veterans measures these factors by considering the financial benefits available specifically to those with military experience.”

Over 1,000 students are active in online Master of Education programs through UNK. There are 29 degree options in areas such as Arts Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Higher Education Student Affairs, Instructional Technology, Music Education, teaching primary physical education, PK-12 reading, teaching Spanish, special education, and STEM teaching.

This is especially true for students who are K-12 educators or active duty military personnel. The Office of Graduate Studies and University Outreach is proud to support these students and we hope that our online graduate programs will continue to be recognized and successful.
