Vaughn College announced the appointment of two new members of the Board of Trustees effective October 2021. Their aviation and aerospace backgrounds bring a wealth of knowledge to the College to help it achieve its vision, “To change the world one student at a time with an education that creates a life of opportunity.
Patty Clark recently retired from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as the Director of Strategy for the Department of Aviation and Dr. Surya Raghu, innovator and entrepreneur, is the founding president of the company. high-tech Advanced Fluidics, LLC. since 2001 and founding partner of a not-for-profit company ET Cube International, Inc.

Clark joined the Port Authority’s New York Airport Access Program in 1995 and helped secure all federal, state, and local regulatory approvals and Federal Aviation Administration funding for the overhead train project. from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). In 2000, she worked as a senior advisor to the Director of Aviation, leading major planning and capital projects, which resulted in the LaGuardia Airport and JFK redevelopment programs. In 2017, she was appointed the department’s first director of strategy and was responsible for managing the aviation department’s strategic, legislative and regulatory programs. She is currently in the process of setting up her own consultancy firm that will focus on improving diversity, equality and inclusion in the aviation industry, as well as policy and regulatory issues. of aviation.
Prior to founding Advanced Fluidics, Dr. Raghu’s first affiliations were with Yale University, Technical University of Berlin (Germany), SUNY Stony Brook and Bowles Fluidics Corporation. He has also been a Visiting Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Laboratories, Visiting Lecturer at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, and currently Visiting Professor at the ‘University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Dr. Raghu owns inventions related to aerospace, automotive, consumer applications and biotechnology and has obtained 15 US patents as an inventor or co-inventor. In addition to his research and development in aerodynamics, he works with various organizations on capacity building for innovation, technology transfer, research commercialization and entrepreneurship in more than 25 developing countries.
The dual mode of working as an engineer-entrepreneur and teaching in the United States and developing countries, combined with his own experience as a first-generation college graduate and immigrant, made Dr Raghu understand the situations related to these students and encourage them to pursue their studies and the career of their dreams.
